The Film Detective warms up with Sizzling Sunday

Suggestive, clever, and a fan-favorite of classic movies, The Film Detective’s Sizzling Sunday Pre-Code Marathons will feature classics such as Bird of Paradise (1932), with Dolores del Río and Joel McCrea; Mr. Robinson Crusoe (1932), with Douglas Fairbanks; and I cover the waterfront (1933), with Claudette Colbert.

In honor of Asian American Heritage Month, Asian American film pioneers will be honored, including a Anna May Wong mini marathon with A study in scarlet (1933) and Lady of Chungking (1942) and articles by Philip Ahn, including Impact (1949) and something to sing (1937).

The new original series from The Film Detective, Classic children’s movieshosted by author Jennifer Churchill and her sidekick Weston, will feature classics for the whole family on Saturdays at 11 a.m. ET, including The jungle Book (1942), with Sabu; The magic sword (1962), with Basil Rathbone; and Steamer Bill Jr. (1928), starring Buster Keaton.

Newly restored features coming to The Film Detective this month will include stunning prints from Anna May Wong classics, including Bombs on Burma (1942), Lady of Chungking (1942), and The toll of the sea (1922), and the film noir classic Trap (1948), starring Lisabeth Scott, Dick Powelland Jane Wyatt.
