Winchester Cala Homes development director wins National Home Building Council award for his work at Kings Barton

A SITE manager has been recognized as one of the best in the country for their commitment to delivering high quality new homes.

Geoff Walker, Principal Site Manager of Cala Homes’ Kings Barton, has won one of the National Home Building Council’s (NHBC) ‘Pride in the Job’ quality awards.

Mr. Walker is one of 12 site managers across Cala Homes development activity to receive this accolade.

Over 8,000 UK site managers were assessed for the award with a total of 443 winners selected, placing them in the top five percent of industry leaders.

The Kings Barton manager will now move on to the next stage of the competition, the Seal of Excellence, which will be announced in the fall.

He said: “It is an honor to be shortlisted for this award after working four years at Cala Homes. The awards are aimed at raising the level of home construction, which I think they have definitely done.

“The Kings Barton site would not have been possible without the support and dedication of my team, and I am extremely grateful to be recognized for this award. Congratulations to all of the other finalists, especially my other 11 colleagues – it really demonstrates the hard work and caliber done within the Cala Group.

Andrew Wagstaff, Managing Director of Cala Homes Thames, added: “The talent and dedication of our Site Managers, their on-site and office teams and their support contractor partners is essential in creating developments and exceptional houses”

“Recently, site managers had to overcome industry-wide challenges such as material shortages and labor supply, but our team remained focused on ensuring that the vision of each development is delivered on time, safely and with the highest quality.

“Congratulations to Geoff Walker and the 11 other successful site managers across the Cala Group. We wish them all the best of luck as the rewards take the next step.

Judging for the “Pride in the Job” competition began in July 2021, with each site manager being assessed in six key areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications , technical expertise and health and safety. Throughout the past year, thousands of in-depth site inspections and ratings and verifications have taken place to determine the winners.
