An abandoned yacht was found adrift off Maharashtra on Thursday carrying three AK-74 rifles and ammunition, briefly triggering a security scare before authorities ruled out a terrorist angle. The yacht’s sail master, also the husband of her Australian owner, told The Indian Express that the weapons were for protection against Somali pirates – and he now wants the ship back. A senior Coastguard official, meanwhile, confirmed that the weapons were all legal.

To reinforce Mumbai’s plastic ban, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to take action against hotels and restaurants that still use single-use plastic for home food delivery.
