They will include a comfortable common area and a small kitchenette with a full basement to support additional storage.
In accordance with the fundamental beliefs of The Putney School, in particular “MANAGE AND PROTECT the earth, seek ways to live on earth that are healthy for all beings and shape our community as a model of sustainable living”, the project team is aiming for Living Building Challenge certification for the two new buildings.
Throughout the preconstruction process, The Putney School, Maclay Architects, Energy Balance and ReArch considered a wide range of strategies to reduce the building’s carbon footprint and overall energy consumption while improving the indoor environmental quality of the buildings. students and teachers. The buildings will not use fossil fuels for heating or cooling and will include a solar water heater, photovoltaic solar panels and cold climate heat pumps.
The building envelope has been carefully designed to maximize R-value while minimizing air infiltration.
The project has recently started construction and will be completed in October 2023.
