LOCATION: DAKAR (+50% trip)

TO NOTE:

THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT: 2 years

CHILD PROTECTION :

Level 3: the job holder will have contact with children and/or young people That is frequently (eg once a week or more) or intensively (eg four days in a month or more or overnight) because they work on national programs; or visit country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police vetting/vetting process personnel.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Save the Children works with a wide range of partners in line with our Theory of Change and Partnership Principles. Key strategic directions include building a diverse partnership characterized by equality and complementarity, enabling child and youth-led organizations and their voices to be at the forefront, and bringing scale of approaches to climate change, adaptation and resilience.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Regional Advisor for CSO Partnerships

Staff reporting to this position: NOPE

Budget Responsibilities: N / A

Role dimensions:

  • External: Local CSOs, child-led organization, networks, INGOs, experts, national CS programs with in-depth knowledge and experience in OCA, OCD and partnership-based programming.
  • Internal: Program Coordination Group, Program Delivery Unit, OCD Champions Partnership and Network, Awards Unit, Finance Unit, HR, TE, and MEAL and KM.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Support in the development of OCA tools
  • Support and coordinate OCA and OCD activities:
  • Develop and promote an online cross-learning platform for TOC
  • Support organizational development and capacity building of partners
  • Support partnership management
  • General :
  1. Participate in internal and external meetings, workshops, trainings.
  2. Any other task required by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant university degree (international human rights and humanitarian law, children’s rights, political science, anthropology, sociology or other social science, international development, etc.)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of development, with at least 2 years of experience in capacity building and partnership-based programming.
  • Experience developing, deploying and building capacity on organizational procedures, tools and guidance.
  • Familiar with partnership management, partnership principles, partnership brokerage, participatory approaches and localization program.
  • Excellent training/facilitation, negotiation, conflict management, presentation, networking and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and credibility with local and national NGO partners.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the political, economic and social contexts of West Africa.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the goals of SC as an organization working for social change and active in promoting children’s rights.
  • Excellent written and oral French and English.
  • Experience in online capacity development platform will be an added value.
  • Proven knowledge and skill in the use of computer applications such as MS Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and maintain a positive attitude.

Desirable:

  • Solid experience in remote management and implementation in complex and insecure environments.
  • Strong people management, moderation, conflict resolution and capacity building skills.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian assistance and long-term development work in order to communicate effectively with partners.
  • Knowledge of the localization program and experience working with national and capacity building partners.
  • Ability and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult working conditions.
  • Familiar with accountability and feedback mechanisms, including for children.
