Jasso back as RISD Chief of Staff

Mike Jasso has been named chief of staff of Richardson ISD, filling the district’s No. 2 position which has been vacant since December 2021.

“Mike brings a wealth of ability and experience to our leadership team,” said RISD Superintendent Tabitha Branum. “He is a servant leader with a proven track record, and we are delighted to welcome him back to RISD.”

Jasso returns to RISD from Mesquite ISD, where he served two assistant superintendent positions, directing personnel and administrative services. From 2017 to 2021, Jasso led RISD’s Berkner Learning Community as Executive Director. In his 30th year in public education, Jasso has served as a teacher and coach, vice principal, and middle and high school principal.

“I am honored and thrilled to return to Richardson ISD,” said Jasso. “I know from experience that RISD is a wonderful school district. The future is bright and I am grateful to be a part of supporting our students, teachers and families as we continue to move forward.

Jasso will work with Superintendent Branum to provide leadership in support of RISD’s mission, facilitate programming in key areas and major district initiatives, and work with a variety of community groups and stakeholders to advance the continuous improvement of RISD. He will begin his transition to his new role in the coming weeks.
