After the departure of Daniel Lee as creative director of the Italian luxury house Bottega Veneta, all eyes turned to his successor Matthieu Blazy. Bringing her unique vision home, Blazy’s debut collection at Bottega Veneta was unveiled in February this year with a particular focus on fusing contemporary class with the brand’s signature details. Now, with the unveiling of Bottega Veneta’s Winter 2022 campaign, it’s clear that Blazy’s vision at home is one of pragmatic luxury.
Shot on film over several weeks in Milan, Belgium and Italy, the campaign involved a range of models and photographers. With this crossover cadence, it becomes clearer that even with Blazy at the helm, the brand identity is cosmopolitan and ever-expanding.
“Bottega Veneta was created by a collective of artisans,” Blazy said. “That’s the story, and that’s how we approached the campaign: together, with many different views.”
The campaign features key winter pieces like leather suits, structured blazers, multicolored abstract patterned knits, classic button-down shirts, whimsical yet clean dresses, relaxed pants and more. Other collection highlights include Bottega Veneta’s signature leather web design on a range of bags and thigh-high boots.
“Bottega Veneta is essentially pragmatic because it is a leather goods company. Because it specializes in bags, it’s about movement, about going somewhere; there’s basically a craft idea in motion,” Blazy said. “It’s style rather than fashion in its timelessness. This is part of his quiet power.
